We are still spinning from the remarkable success and excitement of Project Alpha 2024!
This year’s conference, held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 8:30 am to 4 pm, was a testament to our commitment to empowering young men with essential knowledge about sexuality, manhood, and relationships.
Since its inception in 1980, Project Alpha has been a collaborative effort between Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, aiming to provide education, motivation, and skill-building on issues like responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases for young males aged 12-18 years.
The success of this year’s conference is reflected in the numbers and impact we achieved:
* 100 Black boys and families registered and participated in some way in our conference.
* 70 brothers from our fraternity dedicated their time and efforts to support and mentor these young men.
* 11 sessions covering crucial topics such as navigating interpersonal relationships, sexual health & STD prevention, societal pressures, law enforcement, mental health and more.
* 7 hours of engagement providing a safe space for open discussions and activities.
The chairs of this year’s conference (@mooretolife & @__henryrobert), the planning committee, and the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. are grateful for the opportunity to continue to empower Black boys and develop leaders in 2024!
If you missed this year’s event, more to come!

A HUGE Happy Founders’ Day, and a very special CENTENNIAL congratulations, to the Illustrious women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated! 100 YEARS! 👏🏾🎉
The Lit Brunch was a huge success! We had a steady crowd in and out with about 20-25 who came specifically for our event. In addition, we gave out a total of 50-75 candidate comparison packets to other patrons who were eating brunch but asked for information. We also had a couple of candidates stop in. It was a great day!
A reminder: Early Voting is underway NOW in Franklin County. Please go vote - every race on the ballot - and take 5 people with you! Supreme Court of Ohio races are critical.
Racism Is a Public Health Crisis…
- Voting Rights
- Law Enforcement & the Criminal Legal System
- The School-To- Prison Pipeline
All negatively impact the health of Black & Brown communities. Alpha Phi Alpha is committed to eliminating these systemic race-based inequities!
Join Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Rho Lambda chapter, ETC by US, Rewriting The Narrative Inc., Columbus Can’t Wait Podcast, the Columbus Urban League of Young Professionals and the Black Men Voting Collective at Marvin’s Lounge for the second Lit Brunch, a non-partisan voting education party reinforcing the importance of casting a vote in every race on the ballot.
Election day is around the corner and some are saying this is one of the most important elections of this generation. We want to make sure that as voters turn out for early voting in late October and early November, that people understand all the parts of the ballot, and the urgency of filling it out TOP to BOTTOM.
Learn why it’s critical to complete your ballot from top to bottom, understand what the issues are, know what the candidates stand for, and ask all the questions that you need to make sure you are an informed voter by the time you hit the ballot box.
If you have an absentee ballot and need help filling it out, you can bring it too and get all of the assistance that you need.
There will be a DJ, full brunch menu, and specials to order from.

Last Saturday, our Jr. Esquire Academy participated in Workshop #2 at the Columbus City School for Boys.
The Jr. Esquires engaged in conversations of self-management/self-awareness. The overarching topic was “This is Me”, emphasizing the point that one should embrace their true selves.
Also fun team-building activities were had, including “Spaghetti Tower” where the young gentlemen were faced with the challenge of constructing a tower using spaghetti noodles and various materials such as tape and string, and “Face the Cookie” where a cookie is placed on one’s forehead and the goal is to get the cookie from one’s forehead to their mouth using ONLY facial muscle movements.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are officially BACK! Great food, great drinks, and great music as always!
